What is your title and what do you do for EPA?
I’m the Director and I’m mapping out the plans for EPA, creating content for masterclasses, connecting with experts to have them present masterclasses on their area of expertise, and promote the EPA as the place to be for event professionals!
How did you get involved in EPA?
Through one of my business mentors who was working with Lee and her felt that my background in event planning and on-line business was exactly what Lee had been searching for to spearhead the EPA.
What did you do before EPA?
I started out as a publicist and marketer for various arts organizations and municipal governments as well as planning events. When I moved to Costa Rica in 2002, I opened Weddings Costa Rica, which was named Top 30 Destination Wedding Planners in the World by Destination Weddings and Honeymoons Magazine.
Can you tell us about a crazy experience you have had as an event planner?
Oh gosh, where to even begin as planning weddings in a “developing” country is always an adventure! One wedding started 14 hours after a 6.2 earthquake had hit the area, leaving chunks of the wall missing where the wedding reception was being held. Another wedding was in the far south, in the jungle, and was only accessible by water taxi, which made shipping the DJ equipment, chairs, tables, tent, and flowers a logistical challenge involving a barge and timing it just right for high tide. On top of that, we had to fly in kosher food for the bride’s mother from San Jose. Never a dull moment.
If you could have one superpower what would it be?
If I could clone myself, that would be incredible, as I’d be able to get twice as much done in a day!
What are you looking forward to most with the EPA?
I’m so excited to be part of the team launching EPA into it’s latest chapter, focusing on helping even professionals become savvy and profitable business owners by providing them with the tools, education, and network to excel!
